Instrument rental for band students
The Music Program realizes that the purchase of some of the instruments that make our bands sound great are outside the realm of possibility for most families.
For this reason, the school has invested in costly instruments that become part of our inventory, and we ask that families pay a nominal fee to use these instruments during the school year.
The instruments provided for rental are as follows:
Beginning Band ONLY:
Flute
Clarinet
Trumpet
Trombone
Euphonium
7th & 8th Grades Bands & High School Bands:
Oboe
Bassoon
Bass Clarinet
Alto Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Bari Saxophone
French Horn
Euphonium
Tuba
The terms and conditions of our Rental Policy are outlined below, and families are asked to provide the rental fee with the signed rental agreement at the beginning of the school year.
Agreement
I am aware that this instrument will be hired to me until [Date]. I agree to pay the nonrefundable hire fee in advance. I understand that at the beginning of the hire period, the instrument was judged to be in good working order and that it is my responsibility to undertake any repairs to the instrument deemed necessary by the band instructor during the period of hire. If the instrument is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair while under my care, I agree to pay for a replacement instrument of the same make.
Tenor and bari saxophones need to be placed carefully in their case. Any damage done to the register key will be the responsibility of the student/parent to repair.
Trombone slides are very delicate. Any damage done to them will be repaired by the student/parent.
Mouthpieces lost or damaged will be replaced by student/parent. Selmer C* saxophone mouthpieces range from $250.00-350.00. Brass mouthpieces are approx $150.
Payment
Payment is by Cheque or SAS Card. If you pay with SAS Card at the Student Store, please staple the receipt to this contract. Please make crossed cheques payable to SINGAPORE AMERICAN SCHOOL.
End of Year Check-In
Please know that instruments must be returned in working order, cleaned, with cases vacuumed out at the end of the school year. Students who fail to check in their instrument with a band teacher by the stipulated check-in date will *not* receive their yearbooks on yearbook day.
