For Everyone
All students must have:
- An instrument. Students in Band 7 & Band 8 who play trumpet, flute & clarinet must buy. Others can rent from SAS Middle School.
- A music stand for practicing at home (mandatory). Folding ones are great. Buy from any music store, or check Lazada.com.sg. They cost $20-25 SGD.
- An MS Music luggage tag on their instrument case (provided)
- A Method Book (provided)
- Concert Pieces (provided)
- Mesh Bag containing folder and pencil (provided)
- Band Music Folder (provided)
Flute
All flautists need a soft handkerchief for their cleaning rod or a fuzzy pad saver, and a polishing cloth. A small flat-head screwdriver is also very helpful.
Oboe
3 or 4 reeds (med. soft or med. hard), reed case , cork grease, and a swab. Ask us about reeds - we have a supplier who makes excellent hand-made reeds and we subsidise the cost.
Clarinet and All SaxophoneS
A few boxes of reeds. Beginners usually start with a #2 strength reed while experienced players typically use #2 ½ ‐3 strength. We recommend Vandoren reeds which are available by the box from Accent Music. Please also buy a reed guard (a plastic case that holds reeds), cork grease, and a swab or a fuzzy pad saver
